Start out by surveying possible areas. You may want to focus initially on high usage areas, where a mural will have a high impact, such as:

Once you identify which areas to do first, you will want to prioritize them, and brainstorm with your decision-making group to figure out exactly what type of mural you are looking for. Here are a few ideas:
Do you want a mural to enhance school pride?
An excellent way to do this is to create large mascots, lettering and stripes in a Gym or other high-use area. You can see some examples of this in our Gallery.
Do you want to spruce up your school's hallways?
By adding stripes to the walls, painting your school mascot on a blank wall, and creating custom signs for navigation, we could help brighten up otherwise dreary hallways.
Custom Mural Design
After you have decided the best place for your mural, the next step is figure out a design. At this point, you could either have us design your custom mural, or you could provide staff or student artwork. The more information you supply, the less designing time we will need to do, and the lower the final cost.

After you have a general idea about the artwork you want us to produce, you are ready to contact us and set up a time for a free consultation. Remember that we may have several dozen projects under way already, so please allow us enough time for preparations: The entire process can take several weeks, from the initial visit, to assembly of art, designing time, meeting and deciding on final art, and then scheduling the work.
Free Consultation
We are happy to provide free consultation for your school mural project. If you are in or near Washington state, we'll visit your school, survey the area to paint, take photographs, and submit prices for the proposed work. We'll also bring our portfolio and show you some of the hundreds of school murals we've done, in order to give you ideas for the areas you are considering. If you are more than a few hours away from us, all you need to do is send us photos (digital preferred) of the area you wish to paint. We can use these photos to create sketches of proposed artwork for you. Once we get a final decision on the project we will need a purchase order, and schedule the work to be done.
How Much Will It Cost?
Costs are determined primarily by the complexity and size of the project, which affects how long it will take to complete. Other factors include accessibility, location, type of surface, working conditions, deadlines, etc. Since each of our projects is very unique, we need to know what it entails before we can quote a price. Small murals, or signage, start between $1000-$2000. Large projects, such as gymnasiums, can cost several thousand dollars.
If you have a tight budget, don't worry… we still want to work with you. Large projects can be done in stages, or all at once depending on the budget. It also helps if you establish a budget range, so that we can design for the scope of each project.
